Cứ mỗi độ cuối thu đầu đông. Hoa dã quỳ lại nở khắp phố núi. Cái màu vàng đặc trưng đã sưởi ấm tâm hồn của bao con người nơi cao nguyên nhỏ bé này. Và tôi cũng vậy, Năm trước và những năm trước nữa, tôi cũng mang tâm trạng rộn ràng khi mùa hoa đến. Nhưng năm nay, mọi thứ thật khác, người dân nơi đây không đi săn dã quỳ nhiều như trước nữa, không phải mùa hoa không đẹp, không thắm nhưng dưới tác động của đại dịch Covid-19, người Đà Lạt trở nên trầm lặng hơn, ít muốn đi ra ngoài hơn. Còn nhớ, ngày bé những cô cậu học sinh cấp 3, đã từng ngắt loài hoa dại này để diễn văn nghệ, cài vào căm (nan hoa) của bánh xe đạp để trang trí, còn lấp đầy cả giỏ xe bằng màu vàng rực của loài hoa mang màu nắng này nữa. Hoa dã quỳ có tên khoa học là Tithonia diversifolia, tên tiếng Anh là wild sunflower. Mọc tự nhiên nhiều ở cao nguyên. Trong đó nhiều nhất là Đà Lạt và những huyện lân cận như Đơn Đương, Đức Trọng, Lâm Hà. Cây mọc thành bụi và phát triển nhanh, 1 cây có thể có nhiều hoa phụ thuộc vào sự sinh trưởng và phát triển của cây.
